Where Should We Evacuate in Times of a Typhoon?

In case of an impending wind and flood damage, such as a typhoon, Soka City will open evacuation centers during an early stage, but so as to avoid 3 C's (closed spaces, crowded places and close-contact settings) against the infection of the novel coronavirus, think about evacuating to other places than evacuation centers as countermeasures.

Two Ways of Evacuation

To the second or upper floor

In Soka City, in case flooding occurs in rivers, the risk of water coming up to the second or upper floor of buildings is low.
So, evacuate to the second or upper floor of your house.

Watchwords of In-home Evacuation

• Vertical evacuation (to the second or upper floor)
• Daily necessities to last for at least three days

If it is difficult to evacuate to the second or upper floor of your house,

• One-story house
• The 1st floor of an apartment house
• Senior citizens and disabled people

Think about evacuate to the house of your relative or friend, which is safe from flooding.

• Make regular contact with your relatives and friends.
• In using a car, do so early enough and be careful not to get caught in flooding.

Protect Yourself from Wind Damage

In recent years, tornadoes and gusts of wind often occurs, in addition to approaching typhoons.
Prepare to protect yourself in advance.

• Move to a room with fewer windows.
• Close the rain doors and curtains, and stay away from the windows.
• Stay under a table and protect your head.
• Bring into the house the things that may be blown by wind, such as flower pots.

Go to an Evacuation Center
