Familyship System Introduced

Soka City Partnership Vow System to Be Reformed from April 1

The Soka City Partnership System, which was started with the aim of realizing an inclusive society to recognize diversity and to respect each individual, will be reformed and the Familyship System will be introduced on April 1, so as to further lighten the difficulties and uncomfortableness of people of sexual minority (people whose physical sex do not match the mental sex or whose sexual orientation is directed to the same sex or to both sexes).
At the same time, the collaboration will be started with Koshigaya and Kasukabe Cities.

What is the Partnership Vow System?

This is a system in which people of sexual minority vow the relationship to cooperate with each other as a lifetime partner.
Soka City started this system on December 20, 2021.
Soka City gives the receipt certificate of written oath and the card to those who made a vow.
Legal rights and duties (marriage, inheritance, the deduction of tax, etc.) are not involved, and the aim is to announce the relationship and to gain understanding.

What is the Familyship System?

This system is defined as a relationship in which one or both of parties in the relationship of partnership live a continuous life with his/her child (including an adopted child), respecting the child as a family member.
If a person who made the partnership vow report the familyship, the name of a child may be written on the receipt card of partnership.

Collaboration with Neighboring Municipalities

When moving from and into a municipalities which concluded the agreement about the partnership, the system will be continued with simple procedures.
