The year 2022 started under the corona virus crisis, which seemed to continue on and on.
Citizens' lives and economic activities suffered a great impact.
Soka City continued to provide opportunities for vaccination and to support people recuperating at home, others having financial difficulties and business operators, so as to mitigate the impact.

On the other hand, many citizens participated in various events, which were held with measures to prevent infection.
They enjoyed the seasons and the culture of Soka, and Children's Festa and sports festivals were filled with children's smiles.

  • Recycle Center resumes operation, after the suspension caused by the fire (Jan. 4)

  • The last gathering of new adults, in response to the change in adult age (Jan. 10)

February

  • The official website of Soka City renovated (Feb. 1)
  • The 50th anniversary of Soka-shi Bunka Kaikan (Soka City Culture Hall) (Feb. 1)
  • The last day of Shimin Onsui Pool (Citizen's Heated Pool), closing the history of 37 years (Feb. 5)
  • The Colombian ambassador visits the City Hall to express gratitude for the cooperation in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics (Feb. 7)

March

  • Soka Senbei certified as Food for 100 Years by the Agency for Cultural Affairs (Mar. 3)
  • Ryoshinden Kusunoki Park opened (Mar. 7)
  • Cherry Blossom Festival and the photographing sessions of cherry trees (Mar. 26)
  • The city declares to accept refugees from Ukraine (Mar. 28), and starts supportive measures.

April

  • The fees for official copies of certificates issued at convenience stores lowered to 100 yen during a limited period (from Apr. 1)
  • Hanaguri Nishi Ground opened for use (Apr. 2)
  • Completion ceremony of the Hanasebashi Bridge connecting Soka City and Adachi Ward (Apr. 3)
  • Soka City Library awarded by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as an excellent library promoting reading activities of children (Apr. 23)

  • Cleaning of the statues of Basho and Sora (May 15)
  • Crime prevention class held (May 21)
  • Opening ceremony of "Sezaki Zakuro-tei," a gathering place in the community (May 23)

  • Special benefit granted to support families raising children, with the special addition of 30,000 yen by Soka City
  • The "Exhibition of Mr. Donald Keene Related to Soka" held in Zenso-an (from May 17)
  • Soka Morning Glory Market and Soka Matsubara Dream Festival held, a summer seasonal tradition of Soka (June 25 and 26)

  • Ukrainian Sumo wrestlers visits Soka City and have friendship exchange with children (Jul. 3)
