Prepare Against Earthquake in Good Time

Prepare for the earthquakes and think again what to do at the time of disaster.

It is thought that an earthquake beneath the capital of Japan will occure at 70 % rate in the next 30 years, which will be a much bigger scale than this time.

Food and Water

Long-life processed food such as retort food, freeze-dried food and dried food are recommended.
"Rolling stock method" is effective.

1.Prepare slightly more food and water than usual to stockpile.
2.Eat and drink food/water in order on a reglar basis, starting with the oldest items first.
3.Buy and replenish the amount you consume

Prepare 3L/day per person for 7 days.
7 boxes of six 2L-PET bottles for four-member family are needed.

Portable Toilets

Prepare 5 portable toilets/day per person for 7 days at least
140 portable toilets are needed four-member family

Furniture Overturning Prevention

Check again the furnitures in your house and fix furnitures with L-shape bracket, strap or pole devices and mat. Do not pur heavy items on shelves.

Furniture overturning prevention fixtures (L-shaped metal fittings) are to stabilize the building and the furniture. The expenses will be subsidized up to three pieces of furniture and up to 9,000 yen of installing expenses per family.
Target people: Families consisting of those of age 15 or under, 65 or over or those who have a physically disabled person's handbook, and whose city tax is not overdue.
A letter of consent of the house owner is required for those who live in rental housing because holes need to be made on walls.

Make an application in advance. Contact Kiki Kanri-ka (Crisis Control Section) and make an application before making a request to a trader.
