Under the National Health Insurance and Medical-care System for the Latter-stage Elderly
Measures Related to COVID-19
The insurance tax (or fee) will be reduced or exempted and the invalidity benefit will be granted for those whose income decreased, affected by the situation of COVID-19.
Visit the website of Soka City or make inquiries at the section in charge if you are among the target people and about what documents are necessary for application.
Grant of Invalidity Benefit
The invalidity benefit will be granted in case an insured person of the national health insurance or the medical-care system for the latter-stage elderly did not receive wages due to absence from work because of infection of COVID-19 and some other reasons.
Target people
Those who meet the two requirements below:
- Employees who receive wages from the workplace
- Those who could not work for four or more consecutive days due to the recuperation of infection or of the suspected infection of COVID-19, and did not receive wages due to the recuperation.
Grant period
The period of not being able to work (the number of days from the fourth day)
Grant amount *1
(Total amount of wages of the last consecutive three months / the number of working days) x 2/3 x Target days for grant *2
* 1: The upper limit of is set for grant amount. Those who can receive wages may be subject to the reduction this benefit or may not be granted.
* 2: The number of days scheduled to work during the grant period
Reduction or Exemption of Insurance Tax (Fee)
The insurance tax (fee) will be totally or partially reduced or exempted, on application, for an insured person of the national health insurance or the medical-care system for the latter-stage elderly and who fall under one of the cases below, affected by COVID-19.
Amount of reduction or exemption and target families
Target 1: Total reduction or exemption
The main person who financially supported the family died or became gravely sick and wounded due to COVID-19.
Target 2: Partial reduction or exemption
The income of the main person who financially supported the family to which the insured person belong significantly decreased from last year and met all the three requirements below:
(a)The business and other income of 2021 of the person who financially supported the family (business income, wage income, income from real estate and timber income) is forecasted to decrease from 2020 by 30% or more.
(b)The total income of 2020 of the person who financially supported the family is 10 million yen or less
(c)Other than the income prospected to decrease, the total income of 2020 is 4 million yen or less
* The insurance fee for the fiscal year 2020 of those who subscribed in March 2021 (the payment deadline of ordinary collection being April 2021 or later) must be decreased by 30% or more, comparing the incomes of 2020 and of 2019.
Application deadline
In principle, until the first due date for tax payment written on the payment notification letter
