MATSUO Basho, a famous Haiku poet, visited Soka, a historic post town at the beginning of his journey of "Oku-no Hosomichi (The Narrow Road to Oku).
" The last convention, which was held commemorating the 330th anniversary of his journey, received a lot of Haiku works from home and abroad.
Haiku works in Japanese, English and French will be invited again this year.
The announcement of prize winners is scheduled in February 2022.
Visit the website of Soka City or see the application guidelines distributed at Bunka Kanko-ka (Culture and Tourism Section) and at public facilities in the city for detailed information.

Entry fee

Haiku in Japanese (General Section): 1,000 yen for a set of two free Haiku and one Haiku under a theme
Haiku in Japanese (for elementary, junior and senior high school students) and Haiku in foreign languages (English and French): Free of charge

Application procedure

  1. Haiku in Japanese (General Section) and Haiku in Japanese (for elementary, junior and senior high school students)
    A set of two free Haiku and one Haiku under a theme to be sent by postal mail, to be brought in or to be applied using the application form on the dedicated website
  2. Haiku in foreign languages (English and French)

Only via the application form on the dedicated website

* No limitation in the entry numbers for 1 nor  2 . Apply as many times as you like.
