Disaster Prevention Study
In Elementary and Junior High Schools
And Training to Operate an Evacuation Center in the Community

Citizens' disaster drill to operate an evacuation center has been conducted in the 33 designated evacuation centers since the fiscal year 2017, staged by the Soka City resident group association and led by the evacuation center operating committee, under the slogan to "protect our community with our hands."

The drill was planned in the fiscal year 2020, too, cooperating with Saturday schools in all the elementary and junior high schools in Soka City, but due to the spread of the COVID-19, disaster prevention study was staged this year in classes of the 6th graders of elementary schools and the 2nd graders of junior high schools, where they studied what they can do in times of disaster, under the title of "Think about evacuation centers in times of disaster in Soka City." In elementary schools, the focus was on learning about an evacuation center, and in junior high schools about their role as members of a community and about the importance to take action.

In each community, too, residents are aware that it is necessary to conduct disaster drill continuously, and a drill to operate an evacuation center is conducted in each center, taking infection control measures against the novel coronavirus.
