How Soka Was around 1964

The construction of Sakae Elementary and Junior High Schools were completed in 1963.
Residents moved into Matsubaradanchi (housing complex) in 1964, and the population of Soka City exceeded 60,000.
With the population still on the increase, the citizens' charter of Soka City of nine articles was enacted, and revised later in 1988, with the aim of raising awareness as citizens and of promoting unity.
The charter is based on nine resolutions - to cooperate and work together to develop a lively and pleasant city.

Interview
Make Long-remaining Memories for Children

"I ran with a torch bearer when I was a senior high school student, which is a memory to cherish all my life. I was filled with happiness and pride that I was part of the Olympics, rather than the sense of accomplishment of running. I will go and see the Tokyo Olympic torch relay along Soka Matsubara on July 8. I hope it will be a long-lasting memory for children of Soka."
