Subsidy for Seismic Diagnosis and Aseismatic Repair of Houses

Soka city has a subsidy system for seismic diagnosis (Table 1) and aseismatic repair (Table 2) to promote the earthquake resisting of the houses.

* The wooden houses built before May 31, 1981 is considered easily fell down compared with the houses under the current quakeproof standards.The reasons are "short of bearing walls", "weak foundation", "heavy roofs" etc. Therefore, aseismatic repair after the seismic diagnosis is necessary.

Eligible people

(Wooden Housese) Those who are the owners of the houses and have been living there for more than a year.
(Condominium Apartments) The resisents' association or representatives.

Cautions

  • If there are multiple owners getting consents from other owners is a condition.
  • Application in advance is required to receive this subsidy * Seismic diagnosis or aseismatic repair that was already compled is not covered by this sudsidy.
  • Requirements for aseismatic repair are not falling behind with city/municipal tax and contructores are limited.
  • Report the results by March 1, 2023. * Subsidy money will be paid after that.

Houses that had started to be built before May 31, 1981 under the Building Certification (A few condominium apartments)

Subsidy for seismic diagnosis for existing house

Seismic diagnosis for wooden one or two-story detached houses, townhouses, multiple-use house

50% of the inspection fee.
Up to "number of houses" times 50,000 yen

Condominium apartment (you have its ownership)

Subsidy for aseismatic repair for existing house

General aseismatic repair for wooden houses

Eligible houses

Improvement works for wooden one or two-story detached houses, townhouses, multiple-use house which total evaluation by seismic diagnosis is under 1.0.

Subjected constructions

After doing general aseismatic repair such as reinforcing the foundation/walls with diagonal beams or reducing weight of roofs, the total evaluation should be over 1.0.

Subsidy amount

Maximum 550,000 yen in total of (1)(2)and (3)

(1) 23% of the repair expenses (except reform expenses) up to 300,000 yen.
(2)Additional 2.5% (up to 50,000 yen) is available for the reinforcement during April 1, 2021 and March 1, 2022.
(3) Ppremium (up to 200,000 yen) is added for the people over 65 years

Simplified aseismatic repair for wooden houses

Eligible houses

Improvement works for wooden one or two-story detached houses, townhouses, multiple-use house which total evaluation by seismic diagnosis is under 1.0.

Subjected constructions

It is required to improve the safety degree after aseismatic repair even if total evalusation is under 1.0.

Subsidy amount

* Up to 200,000 yen if two or three of following (1)(2)and (3) repairs at a time

(1) 23% of the expenses up to 200,000 yen for installment of earthquake-proof shelter
(2) 23% of the expenses up to 200,000 yen for installment of Reroofing
(3) 23% of the expenses up to 100,000 yen for reinforcing the bedrooms etc. to secure the space for safety.

Aseismatic Repair for condominium apartments

Eligible houses

Improvement works for mansion apartments ,which total floor space is more than 1000 m2 and fire-resistant or semi fire-resistant buildings with more than three stories, prescribed by article 2; first issue of the law relating to the facilitation of the rebuilding, which total evaluation by seismic diagnosis is under 0.6.

Subjected constructions

After doing general aseismatic repair the total evaluation should be recognized as being over 0.6 by the third-party.

23% of the expenses up to 2,000,000 yen

Free simplified seismic diagnosis

Free seismic diagnosis by PC is available for the wooden house of less than 300 sq.m. in total floor space.
No field investigations.
Bring an ichnography or a sketch of your house to Kenchiku Anzen-ka (Building Safety Section) after an application by telephone.
